I was planning to move to London from Australia and had registered with a Rec2Rec thinking that at least I could set up some interviews before I arrived. Talentedge decided to offer me a job based on our Skype interviews – and I loved it that they took that chance! The first time I met the team was over lunch a few days after I arrived in the country – and I knew I had made the right choice as soon as I sat down. I knew that I wanted a high degree of autonomy, to work with experienced recruiters in a stable team environment. Talentedge has given me that. I got loads of training and support and also the chance to work on some really established clients from day one. I really enjoy working exclusively in the marketing services & media sectors as the clients and candidates are lots of fun.
I joined in 2009 having just returned to the UK after 10 years recruiting in Australia. After 3 years I decided I wanted a complete career change and left to become a teacher – but it turned out I very much preferred recruitment to teaching! I had kept in touch with many of my colleagues during my 12 month ‘sabbatical’ and it was fantastic to be welcomed back to Talentedge and restart my recruitment career with colleagues I had already worked with and clients/candidates who were familiar. Over the years I’ve forged some really great long-lasting friendships here and it’s great to work with like-minded people that you also really enjoy socialising with – which you can do as much of or as little as you want to do here.
I joined Talentedge with a years sales/marketing experience four years ago. I started on the qualified permanent team, surrounded by senior and very experienced consultants that did a fantastic job of supporting me when I was new to the business; it was a brilliant team to learn from. After a year I had the opportunity to move teams to cover a different market, specialising in interim recruitment. This turned out to be a great fit for me, and I was really proud to be one of the top billers in the business in 2018 – three years after I started in finance recruitment. The flexibility has been brilliant at Talentedge – not only was I able to change teams, I was also given the chance to take a 3 month sabbatical earlier this year for a travel break to visit south/central America!
I actually started my career working in accountancy before moving into finance recruitment seven years ago. I joined Talentedge as a consultant in 2015, specialising in permanent recruitment for the tech sector. Back then it was a new area for Talentedge and it’s taken a lot of work to build up a completely new client and candidate base. So it was really satisfying when the desk got so established that I was asked to manage a stand-alone Tech team. I think the best thing about Talentedge is that they’re not afraid to let consultants try something new and they give you the time and support you need to do that.
